The story behind KYD
Built from a lifelong
obsession with music.
Kyd discovered turntables as a child and was already helping local DJs and performing at parties and schools by his early teens. The name KYD began when a club promoter asked to “bring that kid back.”
Chicago nightlife sharpened his ability to mix live and read a room. After enlisting in the U.S. Army following September 11, 2001, Kyd continued studying music and expanded his understanding of sounds and celebrations from around the world.
That range now comes alive in weddings: House into Merengue, Bachata, Banda, Rock, Cumbia, hip-hop, classics, and global favorites—mixed with instinct, not pulled from a preset playlist.
